Lose 70 pounds in less than a year. Can you imagine? Kim Kardashian can and in fact she’s almost there. She captioned her progress on her Snapchat account two months ago, “You guys! Pre-baby weight was 135!” At the time, she weighed around 140 pounds and was taking the journey slow but steady while maintaining her daily 1,800 calorie limit on the Atkins diet. “The beauty about Atkins is that it meets all the nutritional requirements you need post-pregnancy and for pregnancy because you’re eating adequate protein, you’re eating healthy fats, and high-fiber carbohydrates, and some fruits and nuts, and a wide variety of protein. You don’t have to do low-calorie,” says Kim’s nutritionist, Colette Heimowitz. See a breakdown of Kim’s 1,800 calorie diet above and read her tips to keep the weight off below.

1 – Steady weight loss is more healthy for a breastfeeding mom.
2 – Where your diet starts is not always where it should end (meaning Kim K. changed her diet throughout her Atkins 40 program and lost more weight because of it).
3 – Adding in starches little by little is okay as you get close to your weight loss goals.
4 – If you’re going to eat a bagel, take out all the stuffing and put cream cheese in it. Portion control!
5 – Be strategic about your drinking. White wine has only three grams of carbs per serving and Vodka has practically none. (But don’t drink if you’re breastfeeding!!!)

The important thing is to make your diet work for you, make it sustainable.
