Summer’s winding down, meaning that our road trip and pre-game playlists will soon be pushed to the bottom of our listening queue. We’re celebrating the end of the beloved season with some of our favorite throwback jams from previous summers. Featuring plenty of ’90s favorites — arguably the best era for summer hits — and some classics you may have forgotten about, every track is an oldie but goodie.

Get ready for the feels, we’re putting all of your favorite summertime songs back on your radar — you can thank us later.

Oh man, SO many! “At the River” by Groove Armada. “Be Alright” by Zapp. “SpottieOttieDopaliscious” by Outkast. “Scar Tissue” by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Just to name a few…

“Summertime In The LBC” by Dove Shack is my FAVE summertime jam. It makes me feel some type of way every time I listen to it. <3

Not all of these came out during summertime, but they still feel like fun in the sun: “Freak Like Me” by Adina Howard, “Whatta Man” by Salt n Pepa (Featuring En Vogue), “Like This And Like That” by Monica, “It’s Whatever” by Aaliyah, and “Honey” by Mariah Carey.

Animal Collective’s “Summertime Clothes” is probably my all-time fave summer song. I used to live in New York City, and the lyrics are so raw and truthful. When I listen to it, I feel super nostalgic for past summers in my hometown when I first heard the song and, of course, those spent in the city.

There are so many good summer tunes! Kanye West’s “Good Life,” “Summertime” by Beyoncé and Diddy, Ja Rule’s “Put It On Me,” the list goes on and on. Listening to ’90s R&B in the summer is what it’s all about!

Anything off of Classics by Ratatat instantly reminds me of summer because that was my go-to album on summer road trips pretty much all throughout high school. “Lex” or “Loud Pipes” would have to be my favorites! I also LOVE “Hey Ma” by Cam’Ron, and “Pursuit Of Happiness” and “Man On The Moon” by Kid Cudi.

I don’t know how far back we goin’ but some of my favorite songs that remind me of summertime are “Love Lockdown” by Kanye, “Summer Love” by JT for obvious reasons, and “Things Are Getting Better” by N.E.R.D.

Summers for me are preferably lowkey, usually I just trying to beat the Brooklyn heat with a spliff on a breezy rooftop (or front stoop, depending on the neighborhood) with vibey throwbacks like Digable Planets’ “Rebirth Of Slick (Cool Like Dat),” Tribe’s “Can I Kick It?” and TLC’s “Baby-Baby-Baby.”

I don’t really have any specific songs that remind me of summer but being Dominican and living in New York, once June 21 hits… best believe there is some Merengue, Bachata or Spanish Trap blasting everywhere you turn.

“Rock with you” by Michael Jackson makes me think of summer night parties and dancing the night away.

I have two go-to summer songs. The first one is “Steal My Sunshine” by Len. I automatically think of a lazy summer day in the park just basking in the sun and wearing the most ’90s outfit possible. The second is “Why Don’t We Fall in Love” by Amerie. The video is the epitome of a Brooklyn summer — kids playing tag, riding their bikes, or playing double dutch, someone blasting music from their window or car, guys playing basketball in the park, getting shaved ice from the little carts — everything about it screams NYC summer!

I love summer and I have so many songs that give me summer vibes: “Where the Party At” by Jagged Edge, “Summer Nights” by Lil Rob, “Sunshine” by Lil Flip ft. Lea, and “Happy” by Ashanti. I definitely have a place in my heart for throwbacks, and summer seems like the perfect time to play them. I’m hoping these will bring some of you back to them good ol’ summer days.
