Calvin Klein’s creative duo Raf Simons and Pieter Mulier only moved to America about a year ago and unfortunately, this year has proved to be somewhat of a downward spiral for the US. As a result, Simons’ inspiration for Spring 2018 is classic Americana with an incredibly dark twist.

“Fashion tried to hide the horror and embrace only beauty. But they are both a part of life. This collection is a celebration of that: a celebration of American life,” says Simons. The 81 classic American-inspired looks feature cowboy boots, traditional prints, collegiate details, and lots of denim.

The soundtrack for the show was particularly dark, comprised of horror movie tracks paired together with a Sterling Ruby-designed backdrop of axes inspired by The Shining and buckets inspired by Carrie.  Many of the looks feature screen-printed images from Andy Warhol’s “Death and Disaster” series which depicts car accidents, electric chairs, riots, suicides, and all around catastrophe.
