To celebrate his retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, artist Takashi Murakami has collaborated with the museum to add interactive, artistic filters to Facebook’s Messenger app.

Murakami is known for his colorful artwork – namely his recurring designs of smiling flowers, mushrooms, skulls, and iconic characters – as well as his many collaborations with the likes of Kanye West, Louis Vuitton, and now Facebook.

The filters bring Murakami’s designs to life, adding a new level of social interaction through Messenger to make communication more engaging, joyous, and colorful.

The retrospective exhibition, “Takashi Murakami: The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg. is currently open to public and will be running until September 24.
