Lauren Ash launched Black Girl In Om in Chicago, in November of 2014 and it has been growing ever since. Black Girl In Om is a start-up that hosts yoga, healthy eating and other wellness events catering specifically to people of color. Its main goal is to promote holistic wellness and inner beauty for women of colour through their online publication and their various pop-up events. Black Girl In Om's events consist of Wednesday Recharge, an intimate guided Yoga Nidra (Yoga Sleep), on the third Wednesday of every month, and a monthly food pop-up known as Food Church, which aims to make people more conscious about what they are putting into their bodies. There's also Sol, Stay Woke, a yoga and music pop-up event featuring a local DJ and an instructor leading an invigorating Vinyasa flow, along with Get Your Life Visioning, a monthly session focused on identifying your vision for your life 10 years from now, and putting goals and intentions in place.

For the future, Black Girl In Om aims to continue to promote self-care, self-love and feeling centered through accessible and affordable classes and events. Lauren Ash has her own goals for the future, which is "continuing to build and grow and connect and inspire."
