At this year's ComplexCon we got to hang out at the PUMA Galleria; an ode to the mall which was the popular hangout spot we all used to run to with our friends in the 90s. With the launch of the RS-X collection, PUMA wanted to keep the retro vibes going along with a futuristic twist. There was live sneaker customizations, toys, and special talent appearances; one of which was the Colombia-American singer Kali Uchis who we got to catch up with. Read more below...

Your music has a unique flow that we love, how would you describe your sound?
I would describe my sound as ever evolving. I don’t find it finite. I don’t find it one thing. That’s probably the best way to describe it.

How does your background influence your personal style and music?
I think I really come from a background of just being open-minded and knowing that life takes a lot of twists and turns. I think that’s why I’m able to rebuild myself constantly no matter if I get thrown down or when I feel low, I can always use that as inspiration and try new styles and move forward by experimenting with sounds.

What draws you to PUMA, what made you want to partner with them?
I’ve always loved Puma since I was a little girl and a lot of people in Colombia also wear PUMA. I love sportswear for my everyday wear and for my show looks and when I want to look girly and when I want to get sexy, I can mix it and keep it more glam and more gaudy. I always need my loungewear and my sportswear because I’m an active person and I love dancing and I like to be comfortable off stage.

What are three things you can't live without?
I can’t live without my soul, my identity, because that’s the most important thing to me. Before I do something and before I choose to accept something into my life, I have to ask myself if it’s something very heavy, if it's going to still help me keep my soul intact. Without your soul, life is meaningless, life has no more purpose without soul. The two other things — probably my music and God, can’t live without God.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?
SZA.

Any upcoming projects you can share with us?
Yeah! My new album, I’m working on it right now.
