It's been a tragic summer filled of natural disasters in North America. Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose, and Maria hit Houston and Florida, along with destroying Puerto Rico and many other Caribbean Islands. Following the hurricanes, in Mexico, there were disastrous earthquakes that caused buildings to collapse which in turn affected thousands of people. Throughout each area hit, there have been many fatalities among the devastating physical damage.

In a recent video, the mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Carmen Yulín Cruz, gave a speech about how much the affected areas are suffering. "We are dying, we will make it with or without you,” she says in regard to the lack of relief efforts from President Trump. She continues with, "I am done being polite. I am done being politically correct. I am mad as hell. I am asking for the members of the press to send a mayday call all over the world. If we don’t get the food or the water into peoples hands, we are going to see something close to a genocide.” The situation in Puerto Rico is beyond repair; on top of all of the physical damage, the small country is dealing with looting and crime, so much so that a 7 pm curfew has been established.

Over in Mexico, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit resulting in hundreds of fatalities. Volunteers are still actively searching for missing people, and the search could last for at least two more weeks.

The generosity of the people who have been doing everything that they can to help have improved efforts to some degree. Celebrities like Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Rosie Perez, Alex Rodriguez, Romeo Santos, Salma Hayek, and many more have spoken about how they will be helping and how you can help as well. Here at MISSBISH, we come from all over the world with families that have been affected, and we want to share a few ways that you can help the people in need.

Below, you will find direct links to charities and programs helping the affected areas. Remember, it doesn’t matter how big or small your help is, all that matters is that you were able to give a hand.
