Karlie Kloss’ Kode With Klossy Program is Teaching Young Girls to Program Drones
Since its debut three years ago, supermodel Karlie Kloss' Kode With Klossy program has helped more than 400 girls learn to code.
In 2012, Kloss herself enrolled in a coding program at New York Flatiron School, and found it to be an enlightening and important course. "The way our world is going, learning to code should be just as important as learning your mother tongue," she explained. Access for young girls to learn about programming and coding isn't widespread though, which is what prompted Kloss to start Kode With Klossy. Thanks to the success of the first three years, she's now adding three day workshops to the program, designed to introduce girls to coding.
Kloss is also trying to encourage creativity through coding. "The girls in the program may have learned about Kode With Klossy in Teen Vogue because they love fashion. I’m trying to communicate that there are so many creative ways that this technical problem-solving can be applied."
