Earlier this summer, we introduced you to Toronto-based Creative Director and cool girl Dani Roche, who then teased the upcoming launch of her own line of outerwear. Fast-forward to today, and her brand has just officially debuted their online shop featuring coats that are both functional and fashionable, showcasing fluidity and adaptability. Biannual is a brand that is grounded in self-awareness and self-improvement in a rapidly changing consumer landscape, offering coats that can keep up with our own daily hustles, designed around the importance of function and versatility.
The brand's first collection features garments in genderless silhouettes created for everyday use. Like its prefix, "bi" or two, Biannual is designed with dualities in mind, flirting with different styles "to create the unexpected." Key coats are multi-use, reversible or modular, featuring zip-off sleeves and removable faux fur trims. And in the spirit of mindfulness, all of Biannual's products are 100% vegan and made with "Supremeloft," a fill exclusive to the brand, made with recycled cashmere that is light and loftier than traditional fills and naturally water-resistant. With Biannual, it's important to Roche to encourage millennial ideals of social consciousness and an awareness of what's going on around the world.
"There is a need for us to be more conscious about what we are wearing, and Biannual satisfies that need as it is a vegan brand that is functional as well as fashionable," said Roche in a statement. "It's important to be inclusive and to not exclude anyone based on gender, identity, or subculture; I want to promote something that feels progressive and culturally relevant, especially in our current climate."
Roche also launched the line in an effort to satisfy a visible hole in the current fashion market: outerwear with cool silhouettes at an accessible price point. And with Biannual coats looking so fly and ranging from only $385-$595 USD, she's certainly done just that.
