The collection we have all been dying to see is nearly here! Last month, Nike announced its exciting collaboration with Japanese label, Sacai. Today, Nike released a preview of the highly anticipated Sacai x NikeLab collection. Chitose Abe of sacai reinvents classic Nike sportswear pieces with her feminine edge.
The playful and innovative eight-piece capsule collection consists of re-imagined Tech Fleece including a crew sweatshirt, crew hooded sweatshirt, crew top and crew knee-length dress and sweatpants. The most eye-catching designs are the classic Nike Windrunner, reinterpreted as a skirt featuring plissé-style pleating and the sport skirt.
The collection wouldn't be complete without sneakers. Abe puts her spin on the NikeLab Air Max 90 turning it into a slip-on constructed entirely of leather available in obsidian/black with volt lining, volt/obsidian with volt lining and wolf gray with volt lining. Garments aside, Abe also introduces bonded zippers as well as special mesh lace hem to adorn the trim of graphic Nike T-shirts. Her signature paneling is also seen across the collection on several garments.
Look out for the sacai x NikeLab spring collection set to launch globally on March 19 in NikeLab doors in New York, London, Paris, Milan, Hong Kong, and Shanghai and on nike.com/NikeLab in North America, Western Europe, Japan, and China. As well, it will launch in select stores globally including Dover Street Market and colette. The collection will launch on March 25 in Japan. The sacai x NikeLab summer collection, which will introduce new colorways and the addition of the Windrunner skirt, graphic Nike tank, and the NikeLab Dunk Lux, will go on sale in June.
