Revolutionary vintage online store NastyGal's public demise and bankruptcy file last year has not slowed down founder Sophia Amoruso. The female entrepreneur is focusing her energy on a new project: Girlboss Media.
At this point, Amoruso has raised $1.2M in funding for Girlboss Media with funders including Slow Ventures, BAM Ventures, Human Ventures, and Angel Investors. “I went to people that I know and trust who believe in me and the Girlboss brand,” Amoruso says.
The new media brand is named after Amoruso's best-selling 2014 memoir. It will cater to millennial women that believe ambition and wellness are not mutually exclusive. “I don’t claim to have the answers," states Amoruso. "I just want to start a new conversation.”
Girlboss Media will include an editorial website, email newsletter, and her popular radio show. Another major part of the Girlboss brand will be two annual Girlboss Rallies. This past March, at the first-ever Girlboss Rally in Los Angeles, the event sold out with 500 women from 15 countries participating. The next Girlboss Rally is set to take place in New York City this fall.
Another project to look out for is Amoruso's third book, The Girlboss Workbook: An Interactive Journal for Winning at Life, which will be published this October.
