Social media giant, Instagram, has taken another big step in imitating Snapchat, with the addition of Instagram "face filters." After recently adding Instagram Stories, disappearing messages, and stickers, it seems Instagram is intending to replicate all of Snapchat's most popular features.
They're probably on to something, since more than 200 million people use Instagram Stories, already outnumbering Snapchat's total user base of 160 million. Alongside the face filters, Instagram also rolled out three more new features. An eraser tool allows users to remove drawings added to an image, while Instagram Rewind plays videos backwards. Both features are similar to Snapchat features, though Instagram did also come out with an original "Hashtag" feature as well. Users can type a hashtag and add it to their stories as a sticker, which then takes viewers to that hashtag's page on Instagram when tapped.
The initial face filters from Instagram include a gold crown, koala ears, butterfly crown, and more. They're also reportedly "less aggressive" than Snapchat features, possibly to appeal to a wider audience.
