The Inaugural Episode of Apple’s New Reality Show is Full of Inspiring Women
Apple's first original reality show, Planet of the Apps, made an unexpected debut, as the first episode was released yesterday morning. If the initial episode is any indication, the show will be an excellent representation of inspiring women in the tech industry.
The concept of the show is centered around app developers, who get 60 seconds to pitch their idea to a panel of four judges. As long as they get at least one "green light" from the panel, they're allowed more time to present their app. At that point, if 2+ judges show their interest, the developer can choose to work with one of them for the next six weeks to continue development. Afterward, developers have the chance to pitch their app to Lightspeed, which was the first firm to invest in Snapchat.
The star-studded panel boasts Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, Will.i.am, and Gary Vaynerchuk as judges and mentors. Other leading women include contestant Lexie Ernst and Nicole Quinn of Lightspeed. Besides just being an intriguing reality show, Planet of the Apps promises to be a show that supports and empowers innovative women.
The first episode of the 10-episode season is available now for free on Apple Music. Check out the trailer above!
