Watch Madonna, Janelle Monáe, and More Powerful Speeches at the Women’s March on Washington
Saturday's Women's' March on Washington made history as the largest inauguration-related protest in US history. It saw women , men, and children of all backgrounds - even some celebrities - come together to let their voices be heard. Though the celebrities were only a small portion of the hundreds of thousands who participated, some gave incredible speeches to inspire and motivate.
Madonna made a surprise appearance at the March in Washington, DC to deliver passionate words to those at the nation's capital. She said of the inauguration: "It took this horrific moment of darkness to wake us the f*ck up." She continues,
"It seems as though we all slipped into a false sense of comfort, that justice would prevail and that good would prevail in the end. Well, good did not win this election. But good will win in the end. So what today means is that we are far from the end. Today marks the beginning; the beginning of our story. The revolution starts here."
Scarlett Johansson, America Ferrera, Ashley Judd, Angela Davis, and Janelle Monáe also spoke to the massive crowds, with Monáe sharing some hauntingly beautiful words: "We birthed this nation and we can unbirth a nation if we choose."
